3. Bikram

Introduced by Bikram Choudhury, Bikram yoga classes happen in sauna-like rooms. A set of 26 poses is involved, and together with the high temperature brings about loosening of tight muscles and a lot of sweating. This is a good type for anyone looking to keep their muscles as flexible as possible, and also if you want to flush toxins out of your body.

4. Yin

If you want to sit still and just relax, Yin yoga will work perfectly for you. This is because it involves passive poses that can be held for several minutes at a time. With Yin yoga, the main physical aim is to stretch out the body’s connective tissues and therefore release tension. The meditation involved is a great way to relax and helps relieve stress. This is good practice to put in every evening after a busy work day because it puts both mind and body into relaxation.

5. Iyengar

With the use of various props such as yoga blankets, harnesses and blocks, Iyengar works at helping yogis develop better alignment of the body in various poses. This means that various poses are held for long periods to perfect and ensure balance. With enough practice in Iyengar, you can easily avoid injuries and accidents that come from misalignment of body parts, especially during athletics and other physical activity.
