Choosing the perfect outfit is no easy task. Sometimes it can take you hours to decide on the most awesome shirt and skirt combo that will give Carrie Bradshaw a run for her money, so you’d like to think that it would look awesome for the whole night. Unfortunately, life isn’t that perfect, and the struggle of wrinkles is sometimes too real. Luckily, there is a way to avoid wrinkles in your clothes…
Make sure your clothes are completely dry
When you’re getting ready for a night out, you might quickly pop your clothing of choice in the wash to make sure they’re fresh and clean – but because you’re in a rush, you throw it on before it’s properly dry! If you’ve ever done this, you might have noticed that wet or damp clothes wrinkle much easier than dry clothes. Top tip of the day: Always make sure your clothes are 100% dry before putting them on.
Choose the right fabrics
If you’re on an anti-wrinkle clothing journey, you might want to have a think about the fabrics that you are buying. Although cotton clothes are always cheap and cheerful, this fabric also loves to wrinkle itself up! So, try to avoid buying clothes that contain too much cotton and opt for those that normally do not wrinkle at all; including silk, viscose, and polyester.
Try to avoid crossing your legs
Keeping the wrinkles out of your clothes isn’t just down to the item itself… you also have a part to play in this process! The way that you move around while wearing these clothes can drastically affect how wrinkled it gets, and crossing your legs is often the reason why you stand up with lines up and down your favorite dress. That’s because when you cross your legs you create small folds in the fabric that rub together and crease. Once you’ve got a crease, you just can’t get rid of it.
Let the fabric do its thing
When you’re sitting, standing, or just going about your daily life, you are constantly exposing your clothes to pressure and contact. It may be from the bag that you hold against the side of your body, it may be where you sit on a chair, or it may be just where your arms hang. If you can, try to avoid putting this pressure on the fabric. By letting the clothing hang where it wants to, you will be able to avoid wrinkles.
Wrinkles are a sure-fire way to ruin any outfit, but that doesn’t have to be the case! It turns out that keeping wrinkles away from your best look isn’t as difficult as it may seem.
